Jamie is a partner of the law firm of Trafton, Matzen Belleau & Frenette, LLP, joining the firm as a full partner in 2015 after previously being an owner and officer in another mid-sized firm in Auburn. He was admitted to the Maine bar in 1996 and the federal court of appeals in 2000.

He currently has an AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating in the distinguished legal directory, Martindale-Hubbell®.

While he is a highly versatile attorney, Jamie’s practice areas concentrate on civil and business litigation as well as construction, commercial and municipal law.

During his tenure, Jamie has distinguished himself as a successful litigator with a broad depth of experience handling a wide range of cases. A brilliant legal thinker, he has the capacity to develop and follow well-planned legal strategies through to a successful conclusion for his clients. This, combined with his ability to connect with his clients needs make Jamie a valuable legal resource for many businesses and individuals.

In 2010 Jamie was selected to the New England Rising Stars list, a distinguished list of young attorneys from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Jamie is a past president of the Androscoggin County Bar Association and belongs to the Trial Lawyers Association of America, the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and the Maine Council of School Board Attorneys. He is also the former chair of City of Lewiston Zoning Board of Appeals.

Born and raised in Lewiston, Maine, Jamie attended Lewiston High School where he made a name for himself on the ice as an All-State ice hockey player. Due to his combined scholarly and athletic performance he was awarded the school’s Scholar-Athlete Award. Jamie continued his studies and played hockey for Bowdoin College, graduating magna cum laude in 1993. In 1996 he completed his study of law, graduating cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law.

While comfortable in the courtroom, Jamie is also at home on the ice. A long time hockey coach he helped to elevate the Edward Little varsity team to two state titles during his three years as coach and currently coaches his alma mater Blue Devils where he lead the 2015-16 team to its first Class A boys hockey title since 2002 and has been the honored as a recipient of the East Region’s Bob Boucher Coach of the Year from the Maine Class A Coaches Association.

With an eye on future athletic talent, Jamie is also the Squirt Director of the Lewiston Area Youth Hockey League, the Vice-President of the Elliot Avenue Little League and a Peewee coach for the Maine Gladiator Peewee Tier II Hockey Team.

Jamie lives in Lewiston with his wife and four children.
